3 Big Reasons You’re NOT Reaching Your Fitness Goals

Learn three big reasons you are not reaching your fitness goals. This new Strong. Confident. His. Podcast will give Christian women answers to their fitness.

In this new episode and blog, you will learn the big three, get examples of how sneaky they are, know what you can do to overcome them, and of course Scriptures that activate your faith in your fitness.

As Christians, don't we compartmentalize our fitness? We love Jesus. We pray for our families, and our jobs, and we go to Church on Sunday, but we do our fitness, body image, and eating in a worldly way, right?

And guess what, that’s why it doesn’t work. I saw a funny playlist title on Spotify it said Faith Without Workouts is Dead and I completely agree. Obviously, that was referring to James 2:20, “But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?”

I love seeing more and more people talking about faith in their fitness. I have gotten the most amazing feedback from my Fit God’s Way Small Group Leaders!

Joanna shared that a lady in her group was on a liver transplant list and after their Bible study she went to the Dr. and he said I don’t know what you’re doing but I’m taking you off the transplant list.

We know it was all God, right?!

Okay, we are diving in, get out a journal or a note on your phone and write these scriptures down!

3 Big Reasons You’re NOT Reaching Your Fitness Goals

   1. You Compare and Covet

Hebrews 10:35-36 tells us, “Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. 36 For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:” (Hebrews 10:35-36 NKJV)

What this means to me is…Be who God made you to be,  finish the work He gave you to do, and do not compare – keep your confidence in Christ!

Comparing always leads to coveting, and this is why we must hold onto our confidence. – Rick Warren

I believe the devil uses whatever insecurity we have as a trigger to compare, let me give you an example. Let’s say you really want a tiny waist but you were born with a wider or athletic waist or maybe your hormones have really affected your waist, well the enemy knows this, so he sets you up to get upset and feel defeated.

Sister in the name of Jesus, I pray for you to accept your body the way it is, and take care of it for God’s glory. We hold onto our confidence by recognizing that we are not body parts.

You are not your waist. You are not your toe. You are not your thighs.

You are a whole masterful work of the hand of God. Step into that.

Activate your faith: take insecure and comparing thoughts captive immediately don’t engage with them, stop them in their tracks, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,” 2 Corinthians 10:5 NKJV.

2. You’re not confident in who God made you to be.

“being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;” (Philippians 1:6 NKJV)

If you are a Christian, God has begun a good work in you and He will finish what He started.  What is that work, friend? Is it to be a great mom, run a business, or serve in ministry?

We are soldiers for Christ, or as my mom calls me a soldierette, and we need to partner with God, do our part, and get strong and fit from the inside out!

Activate Your Faith: Write down what God has called you to do and to be. This is your why! Listen to God, not the world. Workout to make your mind and body strong, to carry out His plans for your life, God wouldn’t have given you the dream if it wasn’t meant to come true.

3. You don’t know how strong you can really be!

Philippians 4:12-14 from the AMP says,  I know how to get along and live humbly [in difficult times], and I also know how to enjoy abundance and live in prosperity. In any and every circumstance I have learned the secret [of facing life], whether well-fed or going hungry, whether having an abundance or being in need. 13 I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.] 14 Nevertheless, it was right of you to share [with me] in my difficulties.”

Paul who wrote ⅔ of the New Testament was beaten, starving, shipwrecked, and actually in jail when he wrote this, yet he had this kind of strength … where is ours?

I don’t think any of us will ever face what he did, but we have to ask ourselves is the ease of our life a different kind of enemy?

In my own life, I see how comfort is the enemy of progress. There isn’t anything good on the path of least resistance, but boy do we choose it, right?

Here are examples of how easily we can choose the path of least resistance – the comfortable path:

  • I’m in a plank and the instructor says you can drop to your knees if you want.
  • I have food I need to cook in the fridge but my husband calls and says, "Honey, I’m on way home should I pick up a pizza?"
  • I want to go work out, but I’m feeling bad about the way I look that day.
  • I want to get up to read my Bible but I’m tired and it’s cold and my bed is so comfy!

Activate Your Faith: Where do you need to die to comfort, maybe just a little, and excuses, and take better care of your body, God’s temple?

ALL things don’t have to be big things they can be the little daily choices that make all the difference.

🙌Yes, you can get up early to ready your Bible

🙌Yes, you can take that walk

🙌Yes, you can find a workout class you

🙌Yes, you can hold that plank

🙌Yes, you can cook healthy food and choose it

What are your all things?

I want to share a story with you because I know a lot about fear, failing, and having to pick myself up again and again in Jesus

Four years ago, I started feeling the call on my life to help women have a faith inspired transformation in their fitness, but I didn’t how to do it. I had written a book, but from all the emails and messages, I knew women needed more. I knew their pain. I lived it.

This feeling got stronger and stronger, and every day, I began to open my Bible to Jonah. I would ask God, why Jonah? He told me that fitness is my Ninevah.

Countless mornings, I sat and prayed about how to do what I felt God was calling me to. I began to educate myself on how to build a website, start a podcast, and create freebies to share with women to teach them about Jesus in their fitness. I took courses and masterclasses and listened to podcasts.

But there was always this nagging fear. What if no one wants it? It’s going to be so much work. And, of course, the enemy’s favorite, who are you to do this?

But God!

Nothing is impossible with Him.

Through endless hours of work, prayers, and complete surrender, I’m overwhelmed with joy to share what was behind all the books, the podcast, and the devotional.

My dream, The Fit Gods’ Way 30-Day Transformation Course, came true and I’m celebrating the impossible!
