The Big 3: Don’t Let These Make You Quit!

(Press play to tune in to this episode, or read the highlights below.)

Have you been feeling overwhelmed, a bit down on yourself, or tempted to quit?

Friend, I know I have and the sisters-in-Christ on my coaching call today have too – because it’s normal!

Even though we know better and do our best to follow God’s Word, we can get caught up in a bad moment and want to quit.

There isn’t a single Jesus-loving fit person who hasn’t thought about quitting or got caught in the joy-stealing comparison trap.

In this episode, you will hear from women just like you, who:

  • Struggle with controlling their emotions and finding peace in the pandemic
  • Feel paralyzed by the ugly lie of perfectionism
  • Compare themselves to others and get tempted to give up

The Word of God says, God is within her, she will not fall. – Psalm 46:5

We’re all going to get to places that challenge us to the point of wanting to quit, but God within us is bigger than these moments.

Confession...When I first started fitness, I was so weak I couldn’t even do a pushup and I certainly didn’t have the Godly confidence I have today.

I’ve learned time and time again that success goes to those who turn to prayer and push past the points that others decide to quit.

Here are scriptures, quotes, songs, and books I share with those closest to me and that I turn to when I find myself really struggling.

Scriptures:

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. - Philippians 4:6-9

Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. – Philippians 3:12-15

Quotes:

  • Perfectionism doesn't exist on this side of heaven, so practice pursuing excellence instead and cover it in grace.
  • We often can’t give away what we don’t have so if you start giving other people grace, you’ll find you’re not as hard on yourself either.
  • Perfectionism is usually rooted in our need for acceptance or fear of rejection or even self-protection.
  • In God’s eyes, we have been made perfect in Christ. This frees us from needing to earn anyone’s approval-- we are perfect in Him.
  • You don’t have to be perfect to get it right ---- just get it going.
  • Give yourself permission to just do your best today….knowing that’s good enough
  • Thinking we could ever be or have to be perfect will hold us back from life. It’s a lie from the enemy that paralyzes us.
  • All you need to be is one small step ahead of someone to teach them how to get through what you just got through…

I’m going to pray for us...

Dear God,

The unknown can shake us to our core, but your word is our rock and our refuge.

Our emotions Lord can get the best of us and we feel paralyzed. Thoughts of anxiety, perfectionism, and comparison are robbing us of our health, happiness, and even our purpose! Lord, let your word be louder than the lies. You are our strength, in You, we will not fall.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Faith Fuel:

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.– Psalm 46:1

I’m never going to leave you without asking you to get into action.

Nothing happens without action, and I’m here to be your accountability partner.
