I recently had Glenda Alvarez on my podcast, The Strong. Confident. His. Podcast, and I’m so excited to share how God works and the story of how we connected.
Glenda is a wife, mother, and entrepreneur. She is the founder of Ella Asciende, a faith-based organization whose focus is to equip women with the truth of God's Word through conferences, online Bible studies, and practical tools and resources.
We chatted about everything from family to goals, and today I want to share the wisdom she shared we me: How to Balance Mom Life with God-Sized Goals & Finding Success!
Sisters, do you ever look at someone and think, wow, how does she do what she does? How does she run a business with kids, how does she show up on social media so consistently, how did she get started, what keeps her motivated, how does she balance all of this, and still takes care of herself?
Glenda is very successful and has a lot of knowledge to share about being a busy wife mom and entrepreneur.
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace. 1 Peter 4:10
Let me share the story of how we met. I noticed Glenda right away on social because of her pretty pink background in her picture. When I went to her bio, I saw Jesus, love pink - I’m thinking YES this is my kinda girl!
She was so kind to purchase my books and then she did a beautiful story on them. I was so blessed.
We started to talk a lot in DMS, and I would share what I was struggling with. Bless her heart she didn’t just send me a message, she sent me every tip she could think of and it got me thinking I bet a lot of other women would love to hear this very helpful information. Because we need each other and God encourages us to one another!
Glenda has been married for about 16 years and has two beautiful girls. When she turned 30 years old God began to open doors to start speaking at conferences and serving a church. And it wasn’t always easy!
“Having a family is so much work in general but also work around the house, and then the business and ministry and everything. So it's just been a journey and a learning process to manage all of that and to know how to balance it because there are so many categories in so many areas.
In our lives, especially as women, we want to have control of everything, right? Control of oh, I want my hair to be perfect and my relationship with my husband and the dates and the daughters and everything. But we know that it's so important to be connected to God first.
He just wants you to trust Him. Trust Him with your journey. He wants for us to have intimacy with him right now and in our lives, because we depend on him. And really I want to read what John 15:4 says, ‘Remain in me as I also remain in you now. A branch can’t bear fruit by itself, it must remain on the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.'"
I asked Glenda how does she do it? How does she stay so consistent while balancing being a business owner, a mom, a wife, and a great friend? Here was her response:
“First of all, it's been very, very, very hard for me, to become that person because I was not that person. I was not consistent. When I felt like a failure, I would stop, I would quit. But I had to learn in the process that no, I should not remain on the floor, I need to get up, I need to keep going. And the way I do that is just reminding myself who I am in the Lord. But it's a constant battle! For me, it has become like training in the Word of God. And that's what drives me to be connected with Him.
Honestly, there are some times when I don't want to do it anymore, but I know that I'm responding to a calling. That's an assignment that I have. So I need to say yes, even though I don't feel like doing it.
Next, find your community. Find a group of women that maybe do what you do, you know, because that's what keeps you motivated.”
I think it’s important to note that serving isn’t easy there is a struggle because the enemy doesn’t want us to do it and our flesh can get in the way. Here are some quotes I found that really spoke to serving through your gifts and not growing weary in well-doing.
So then, as we have the opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith. Galatians 6:10
Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. James 1:12
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: 1 Peter 4:10
I teach something called the F.I.T. Power Hour where every day we spend time with God. This is a Faith Inspired Transformation answer to getting fit God's way and your answer to real fitness. The components are to spend time with God and in His Word, exercise our body, journal our thoughts and feelings, and then, of course, eat God-made food over manmade processed food. Doing this daily will change everything in your life and it doesn't need to be perfect.
This is how you connect it all together, friend, and find real balance. If you’d like to listen to the full episode with Glenda Alvarez, click here!
I’d like to invite you to join my free Facebook Group, FIT Sisters In Christ, and introduce yourself! There are ladies all over the world in this group and we encourage each other and just love and lift each other up!
Praying for you friend!
