How To Hear From God, Today!

faith success Apr 26, 2022

Have you ever needed God to answer a prayer or wondered what you need to do to hear from Him? How do we hear from God? How do we know what God wants us to do when we need answers? Today I am giving you three things you can start doing now to be more open to hearing from Christ.

Read His Word

Did you know the Bible is the best-selling book of all time? According to the Guinness Book of World Records, it has sold over 5 billion copies!

If you want to know what God’s instructions are, what He wants you to do, to think and ask for, you will find it in the Bible. So often we think we aren’t hearing from God but it’s often because we aren’t reading His word and we don’t study it. Of course, there are times when God seems silent, but in our faithfulness, He is working behind the scenes as Romans 8:28 tells us, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

Meditate on It and Act

Quite often we think we are waiting on God so we aren’t actively doing anything. We say I’m praying for a new job, I’m praying for God to help me want to work out, and I’m praying for God to help me lose weight. But prayer requires faith, and faith is active. The only way to learn something or get good at it or figure it out is to do it, and with this, we will make mistakes, but those mistakes direct our path.

“Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.” Isaiah 30:21

Pray

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 tells us, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

The Bible tells us to pray without ceasing, but what does that mean?

Obviously, it doesn’t mean that you live with your eyes closed all day. Paul isn’t telling us to talk to God all day. He’s referring to an attitude of God-consciousness and God-surrender that we carry with us. Our Every waking moment is to be lived in an awareness that God is with us and that He is actively involved and engaged in our thoughts and actions. Source

Prayer should be like breathing.

John 14:26 tells us, “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”

We experience the presence of the Holy Spirit when we are in the Word, and because we have spent this time in the Word, The Holy Spirit brings the Word to mind when we need answers. It makes the Word of God come alive. Think about how many times you’ve read something, and then one day you read it, and it brings you to tears? This is God talking to you.

What about when you keep seeing a scripture, and you know God is using it to answer your prayers? This is how God talks to us.

If you’d like to start reading the bIble every day, I highly recommend the One Year Bible

Before you go, I want to pray for us

Dear God,

We long to hear from you, so we commit to reading your word, meditating on it, and praying, daily.

Please help us through the power of the Holy Spirit to be disciplined. Father, our relationship with you is our first priority. Help us live like it. We confess we often feel too busy and wait for the right time, but from now on, we will set time aside every day to read your Word and pray.

We need your wisdom, guidance, and your strength. We are lost without it.

Our hearts are yours, and we want our lives to bring you glory.

Thank you for loving us and giving us the instructions we need for life in your Word.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
