Hey there, friend!
This topic hits home for me in a very big way. This devotional comes straight from the pages of my journal.
People ask me quite often, "Kim how are you able to stay fit and tackle goals like writing a book or having a podcast?"
The truth isn’t pretty or as simple as you might think.
Here's my honest answer, it's anything but a perfect journey.
I slip, trip, and fail my way to success.
I've learned to keep getting up in His grace.
When your life is in Christ, He reaches down and even lifts your hand to help you get back up again, and again.
It sounds funny to say, but if it wasn’t for the Word of God to power me through, I would be a Jesus lovin' hot mess!
If you need some BFF girl time and a big dose of faith-filled motivation, this hand on your shoulder, you've so got this encouragement is just for you!
Philippians 3:12-14 says,
Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Our challenge is to forget what lies behind, to press on when we want to give up and to celebrate the women He is making each of us into.
Hebrews 10:35-36 says,
So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.
Has anyone ever told you that, you are strong and that you can keep getting up in Him?!
You are! In the strength of God, you can press on, persevere, and persist until you succeed.
It all starts with just doing today, take a step, and then do it again tomorrow. Keep showing up in faith, relying on Him and you can accomplish far more than you could ever think or imagine.
One of my all-time favorite books is by Og Mandino, The Greatest Salesman in the World.
I want to share a part of it with you to encourage you that you might be a lot closer than you think.
I Will Persist Until I Succeed
The prizes of life are at the end of each journey, not near the beginning; and it is not given to me to know how many steps are necessary in order to reach my goal. Failure I may still encounter at the thousandth step, yet success hides behind the next bend in the road. Never will I know how close it lies unless I turn the corner.
Always will I take another step. If that is of no avail I will take another, and yet another. In truth, one step at a time is not too difficult.
I will persist until I succeed.
Isn’t that so good!
In this moment, I believe God is asking you to take the next step with Him. Like the book says, "One step at a time is not too difficult."
I pray you take a step today.
Dear God,
The temptation to quit seems so easy. And when we do it even feels temporarily satisfying, but we know it’s a lie of the enemy.
Father, I pray that in this moment that we are stirred up to thrive for you. Give us that inner fire to keep taking another step, and another. We want to press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
In your name, we pray, amen.
I want to leave you with one closing thought…
The enemy is waiting for you to quit, don’t do it..don’t let him win
Let’s pinky promise, we’re going to press on and persist until we succeed!
Okay now you know I’m never going to leave you without asking you to get into action…nothing happens without action.
