Trusting God’s Timing & Plans for Your Fitness Journey

I know how hard it can be when your fitness journey doesn’t seem to line up with your plans or timelines. We all want to see quick results, but here’s the truth: God’s timing is always better than ours.

In today’s podcast episode, I’m diving into what it means to truly surrender your fitness goals to God, trust His process, and embrace the waiting season.  He’s working even when you can’t see it!

You know, so often in our fitness journey, we want things to happen right now. Whether it's weight loss, muscle gain, or just feeling more confident in our bodies—we set these timelines for ourselves. We say things like, 'I’ll be at my goal weight by this date,' or 'I’m going to work out every day this month,' but what happens when those timelines don’t line up with reality? Maybe you don’t see the results you wanted as quickly as you hoped, or life gets busy, and you fall off track.

I’ve been there. I know what it feels like to wrestle with impatience and frustration when things aren’t moving fast enough. But here’s the truth: God’s timing is not our timing, and His plans are always better than ours.

In Proverbs 16:9, it says, 'In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.' We can make all the plans we want, but it's God who directs our steps. He sees the bigger picture, the things we can’t see. While we’re focused on that number on the scale or fitting into those jeans, God is focused on our heart, our faith, and our spiritual strength.

Maybe right now, you're in a season where you’re not seeing the progress you want in your fitness, but I want to remind you that God’s timing is perfect. You might be in a time of preparation. He could be working on your heart, teaching you patience, endurance, or self-control. He could be aligning things in your life that need to happen before you step into the next level of your fitness journey.

Just because you don’t see immediate results doesn’t mean God isn’t working. In fact, those times of waiting are often where God is doing His deepest work in us.

I think about Isaiah 40:31, 'But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.'

Sister, when you put your hope in the Lord and trust His timing, you’re not just waiting around—you’re building spiritual strength that will carry you through not only your fitness goals but every challenge you face in life.

Sometimes we need to shift our focus from looking at the world’s timeline for results and start looking at God’s. His timing is always right, and when you partner with Him, you’ll find that your journey will lead to a transformation that’s deeper than just physical change. It’ll be a heart change—a transformation from the inside out.

Remember these three points:

1. God is not a genie in a bottle. We can’t just say a prayer and expect everything to be instantly fixed. He’s not here to grant our wishes but to be honored and revered. He loves us and is for us, but He won’t tolerate sin or pride. Trust His timing, even when it doesn’t match your expectations. Let Him become your expectation.

2. Don’t miss what God is doing by focusing only on what you want Him to do. Just because you don’t see immediate results doesn’t mean God isn’t working. Often, it’s in the waiting that He’s doing His deepest work within us.

3. God must be first. Are you willing to surrender your whole life to Him? We often take back the parts we want to control, but He wants to partner with us. Instead of dwelling on where you’re not, focus on how far He’s brought you, and trust that He may have something even better in mind.

I hope this episode encouraged you to surrender your fitness journey to God and trust His timing. If this spoke to you, I’d love to hear about it. Tag me on Instagram, and let me know what God is teaching you in this season.

Until next time, Remember You are Strong. Confident. His.
