Learn From the Women in the Bible: Find Hope and Strength in Their Stories

Did you know there are Women in the Bible who can give you HOPE for the very thing you're going through?  Maybe you've never heard how much you have in common with the Women in the Bible or how relatable they are, but this new Strong. Confident. His. Podcast will teach you. 
 

In a world filled with uncertainty, are you looking for a deeper connection with God? Do you ever feel like you're carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders? Like no one truly understands your pain or struggles? In those moments of doubt and despair, it's vital to remember that you are not alone!

As Christian women, we have priceless wisdom in the stories woven throughout the pages of Scripture, stories of faith, resilience, and unwavering trust in God.

I’m so excited to go on a journey with you highlighting the key things we can learn from 11 women in the Bible who dared to believe God’s promises and saw His faithfulness unfold.

Wherever you are right now on your life journey, there is a woman I’m going to share who will speak hope into your struggle. 

Each lady faced her own trials and tribulations, yet through it all, they found hope and strength in the love and power of God.

I’m going to give you their name, the main point for their story, and a scripture but sister if one of these women speaks to your heart, open your Bible and learn everything you can from her and her story because seeing her faith will fuel yours!

Sarah: "Nothing is too difficult for God."

Despite her old age, Sarah bore a son, Isaac, fulfilling God's promise.

Hebrews 11:11 Tells us that By faith Sarah herself received the power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised.

Hagar: "God sees you."

In her darkest moments of despair, Hagar encountered God who saw her mess and made a way for her and her needs.

(Genesis 16:13) tells you that God sees you! He sees exactly what you’re going through, because, to quote Hagar, “You are [El Roi] a God of seeing. Truly, here I have seen Him who looks after me”

Rahab: "Your past does not define you. God can use anyone."

Despite her past as a prostitute, Rahab's faith led her to help the Israelite spies and ultimately become part of Jesus' genealogy. She is the Great-great-great grandmother to David, the shepherd boy born in Bethlehem---the future King of Israel!

Matthew 1:5-6 tells us,“​​Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab, Boaz the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth, Obed the father of Jesse, and Jesse the father of King David.”

Hannah: "My God answers prayers."

Through fervent prayer, Hannah received the blessing of a son, Samuel, from the Lord and she entrusts him to God.

“For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted my petition made to Him. Therefore I have given him to the Lord, as long as he lives he is given to the Lord.” -1 Samuel 1:28

Ruth: "It's not over until God says it's over."

Ruth's unwavering loyalty and faithfulness led her to unexpected blessings and a place in the lineage of Jesus. And God gave her a husband at 40 years old.

Ruth 1:16 But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me.” When Naomi realized that Ruth was determined to go with her, she stopped urging her.

Esther: "Trust God. He will exalt you in His timing."

Esther's courage and trust in God's plan saved her people from destruction.

Esther 4:14 Tells us, “For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”

Elizabeth: "It’s not too late. You’re not too old. God has a purpose and a plan for you."

Despite her old age, Elizabeth bore a son, John the Baptist, fulfilling God's promise.

Luke 1:39-44 tells us In those days Mary arose and went with haste into the hill country, to a town in Judah, and she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, and she exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! And why is this granted to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me? ...

Mary: "Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill His promises to her."

Mary's humble obedience and faith led her to become the mother of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Luke 1:45 is the scripture I mentioned and it is something we need to speak over ourselves, "Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill His promises to her."

The woman with the issue of blood: "When all has failed, God never fails."

Despite her years of suffering and failed treatments, her faith in Jesus healed her instantly.

Luke 8:43-47 Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any, came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped. And Jesus said, “Who touched Me? When all denied it, Peter [a]and those with him said, “Master, the multitudes throng and press You, [b]and You say, ‘Who touched Me? But Jesus said, “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.” Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately.

‌Mary and Martha: "Jesus came back to life."

Through their grief over the death of their brother Lazarus, Mary and Martha witnessed the miracle of Jesus raising him from the dead, and Mary sees Jesus after He was crucified.

John 20:11-18 Tells us, “But Mary stood outside by the tomb weeping, and as she wept she stooped down and looked into the tomb. And she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. Then they said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?”

She said to them, “Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him.”

Now when she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, and did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?”

She, supposing Him to be the gardener, said to Him, “Sir, if You have carried Him away, tell me where You have laid Him, and I will take Him away.”

Jesus said to her, “Mary!”

She turned and said to Him, “Rabboni!” (which is to say, Teacher).

Dorcas: "God never forgets what we do for others."

Dorcas's acts of kindness and generosity were remembered by God, and He brought her back to life through the prayers of the apostle Peter.

Acts 9:36-42 tells us, “Now there was in Joppa a disciple named Tabitha, which, translated, means Dorcas. She was full of good works and acts of charity. In those days she became ill and died, and when they had washed her, they laid her in an upper room. Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men to him, urging him, “Please come to us without delay.” So Peter rose and went with them. And when he arrived, they took him to the upper room. All the widows stood beside him weeping and showing tunics and other garments that Dorcas made while she was with them. But Peter put them all outside, and knelt down and prayed; and turning to the body he said, “Tabitha, arise.” And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up. ..”

Sisters, as we reflect on the lives of these incredible women, let us draw inspiration from their faith and courage. Let us remember that no matter what challenges we face, God is with us, and His promises never fail.
